The Executive Governor of Oyo State, Engineer Seyi Abiodun Makinde, has disclosed his post-governorship ambition that he won’t run for the Red Chamber of the National Assembly.
Makinde, while addressing the Members of the Cathedral of Saint Peters, Oke Aremo, Ibadan, during his thanksgiving service noted that running for senatorial seat after being a governor is like a demotion.
He said: “Let me say this again; I will not come to you to seek for your support for senatorial ambition. I do tell people that a Senator is under a Governor. After serving as a governor, if you say you want to aspire for senatorship, are you going forward or backward? So, I am not coming back to ask for your support to assist me on senatorial ambition.
“I want to take Oyo State to a level that the next administration will improve on for sustainable development of Oyo State. It will be a lot easier for the next government because we have laid all the necessary foundations and we will use this four years to consolidate on the foundation for sustainable development in Oyo State.”
