The Executive Chairman of Oyo East Local government, Hon. Arowosaye Saheed Adeyemi, On Friday, inaugurated palliative distribution committee to cushion effects of subsidy removal, in line with the arrangement of His Excellency Engr Seyi Makinde.
This distribution committee comprises representatives from various groups such as artisans, market leaders, religious leaders, community development associations, civil society, traditional leaders, pensioners, farmers, physical challenge group, widows group, NUT, DSS and Police personnel.
Arowosaye tasked the committee with the important responsibility of ensuring that the palliatives get to the hands of the most vulnerable members of the local government.
He, therefore, charged the members to uphold the highest standards of fairness and accountability throughout the distribution process.
While speaking to journalists at the Council, Arowosaye said: “We have inaugurated a dedicated committee to distribute palliatives, in line with the directives received from the state government.
“This committee comprises representatives from various groups such as artisans, market leaders, religious leaders, Community development Associations, civil society, traditional leaders, pensioners, farmers, physical challenge group, widows group, NUT, DSS and Police.
“Of course, I appealed to all committee members to work diligently, with a sense of compassion and responsibility, to make sure that these palliatives bring relief to those who require it most.
“We also have a monitoring committee to evaluate the work of the distribution committee because I know that, together, we can make a difference in the lives of our citizens.”
