His statement reads thus:
“I congratulate Governor Seyi Makinde, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), and all the House of Assembly candidates on their success at the gubernatorial election in Oyo State as announced by the Independent National Electoral Commmission (INEC) today.
“I wish to specially commend Governor Makinde for his bravery in rejecting God-fatherism and seeking an alternative platform to actualise his vision for the good people of the state.
“Equally, I applaud the good people of Oyo State for turning out en mass to exercise their franchise and waiting vigilantly thereafter to protect their votes. Indeed, the people of the state spoke in one voice.
“I want to assure all our Muslim brothers and sisters in the state that the governor will do more for us and deliver dividends of democracy to all and sundry.
“So, let us continue to pray for his administration and ensure we live peacefully, because development will only thrive in a society where peace reigns.”
