SA Islamic Affairs, Imam Abdulrasheed Abdulazeez has congratulated Governor, ‘Seyi Makinde, over his re-election as Governor of the state, saying that the will of the Almighty Allah and wish of the people prevailed.

Makinde, who contested under the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, emerged winner at the just concluded gubernatorial election in the state, beating other opponents, added that the Muslim Ummah will enjoy more benefits in the state under Omituntun 2.0.

Imam, in his congratulatory message, commended the efforts of the security agencies, the electoral umpire for a peaceful election as well as the people who trooped out en masse to vote massively for the governor.

He, however, urged Muslim Ummah not to allow themselves to be carried away by those who are hell- bent in using religion to cause division in the state.

Imam assured that the governor will do much more for the Muslim Ummah than what was experienced in his first term.

His statement reads thus:
“I congratulate Governor Seyi Makinde, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), and all the House of Assembly candidates on their success at the gubernatorial election in Oyo State as announced by the Independent National Electoral Commmission (INEC) today.

“I wish to specially commend Governor Makinde for his bravery in rejecting God-fatherism and seeking an alternative platform to actualise his vision for the good people of the state.

“Equally, I applaud the good people of Oyo State for turning out en mass to exercise their franchise and waiting vigilantly thereafter to protect their votes. Indeed, the people of the state spoke in one voice.

“I want to assure all our Muslim brothers and sisters in the state that the governor will do more for us and deliver dividends of democracy to all and sundry.

“So, let us continue to pray for his administration and ensure we live peacefully, because development will only thrive in a society where peace reigns.”
