…Olubadan, Makinde, Others expected
The Ibadan Zonal Command of the Vigilante Group of Nigeria, VGN, is set to hold its security summit, Awards and fundraising event.
The event, which would hold at House of Chiefs, Secretariat, Agodi, Ibadan, on 28th of December, 2022, would is three-pronged, and aimed at addressing issue of security challenges in the country.
The Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Lekan Balogun, would be Royal father of the day while the Executive Governor of Oyo State, Seyi Makinde, is expected to grace the event as a special guest.
The Deputy Ibadan Zonal Commander, Prince Ajibola Ayetan, while addressing a press briefing in Ibadan on Monday, stated that the three-pronged programme was put together to address the issue of insecurity in the state, the country and to proffer possible solutions.
“Just like the theme of the event suggests, it is based on security summit, awards presentation and fundraising. It is a three-pronged programme put together to address the issue of insecurity of our present time and to proffer solutions to future challenges.
“And on the awards, it is our plan to appreciate a number of personalities who have been supportive to the group one way or the other and also people we are looking up to. So, we intend to honour such people who have impacted our lives at the event.
“On the fundraising aspect, we need logistics as we don’t have vehicles that can aid our smooth operation, which has slowed us down and make us inactive in our duty.
“This is a voluntary organisation and self-funded organisation. We are not getting grant or financial support from any particular body. We outsource ourselves for our operations and activities to secure our community ans make Nigeria safe.”
