A support group seeking the reelection of Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State, Young Appointees for Seyi’s Re-election, YASR, has hailed the governor for assenting to the bill upgrading the status of Emmanuel Alayande College of Education to a full fledge University of Education.
The bill, according to the group, will create another university option for Oyo state students and students in neighboring states, who desire standard and quality education.
YASR equally noted that the governor is, indeed, following through his agenda for Education, which is one of the major pillars of his administration, as contained in the roadmap for accelerated development 2019-2023.
The group, however, appreciates the good people of the state for their show of support for the governor.
It equally urged them to sustain the support of the Omituntun 2.0 mantra, which is embedded in the second term bid of the governor, saying it will bring more fortunes to Oyo State.
The statement read in part:
“We are proud of Governor Seyi Makinde for following through his agenda as contained in the roadmap for accelerated development 2019-2023, and for not being carried away with campaign activities
“While some other state Governors have switched from governance into politicking as a result of the forthcoming general election, we are happy that, the case is not the same in Oyo state, as a week will never go without good news, new projects, new initiatives and positive developments around our darling governor. Indeed, he has successfully created new impressions about Nigeria politicians and for this, we say thank you to him.
“Recall that Education is one of the major pillars, which the current administration is rested upon, the upgrade of EACOED into degree awarding institution, will give access to students and also have economic impacts on Oyo town and other neighborhoods.
“This effort is geared towards ensuring that, good, standard and quality education systems are within the reach of Oyo state students.
“With this latest development, we now have three state owned universities in Oyo state and more are still on the way bearing in mind that, education plays major role in the development of nation.”
