Leaders of the All Progressives Congress from the Osun West Senatorial District of Osun State has called on the Stakeholders and Chairman of the party to ensure that the Governorship Ticket of the party is given to a candidate from Osun West.

They stated this in a Press Conference addressed by the leaders on Tuesday, calling on Former Governor Oyetola to work with Chief Bisi Akande to ensure that their agitation comes to pass.

The Leaders noted further that it is the demand of all party members and most especially from Osun West that a candidate is taken from Osun west adding that that is the only condition of victory for the APC come 2026.

“We are saying to all the elders and leaders of APC in Osun state because there is no other party we can go, we are not leaving the APC in Osun, thats why we are begging that at this period, if you look at the people that came out for Governorship in Osun state, none has been done in the west, that’s why we came together to see to it that the yearning of the people that except we pick a candidate from Osun West, it will be difficult for us to win in 2026.

“Thats why we are begging our leaders, especially the Chairman of Osun APC, Sooko Tajudeen Lawal, we are appealing to him to help us call a stakeholders meeting and then all other leaders because we are not satisfied with what is going on in Osun.

“We want a candidate from the west, all of us here today, are leaders of the APC in all the local governments in Osun West, thats what we need now, we can not do it alone but they should support us. What everybody in the party is saying is that APC should pick a candidate from the west.

“I must mention the name of our leader, Governor Oyetola, he should resolve amicably with Chief Bisi Akande at all cost so that we don’t lose again in 2026, and to ensure this our party candidate must be from the west”, the leaders noted.

The group is believed to be agitating for the governorship ambition of the former Commissioner of Finance, Bola Oyebanji who hails from Ikire, a town within Osun West Senatorial District and is also adjudged as a more potent candidate against the incumbent governor, Ademola Adeleke.

The former governor, Gboyega Oyetola, according to sources, is also believed to have chickened out of the APC ticket struggles owing to concerns of the stakeholders about his abysmal political stock, emanating from his not too impressive performance in office in his last stint in office.
