Young Nigerian, UI Alumnus Becomes Goalkeeper At Bill And Melinda Gates Foundation

Kehinde Odanye, a young Nigerian and graduate of Statistics, University of Ibadan has been chosen as a Goalkeeper at Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, a platform that showcases excellent sustainable development initiatives globally. Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation is committed to fighting the greatest inequities in the world.

Her mission is to create a world where every person can live a healthy and productive life.

Kehinde currently serves as United Kingdom Youth Ambassador of ONE Campaign, an organisation committed to ending poverty and preventable diseases by 2030. ONE works on promoting the sustainable development goals (SDGs) globally.

As part of his campaign against hunger in East Africa, Kehinde was in UK Parliament recently and met with Shadow Secretary of State Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Affairs David Lammy, and Shadow Minister for the Middle East and North Africa Bambos Charalambous, to talk about the severity of the crisis in East Africa and need for more funding by UK government to combat evils of development, poverty and hunger.

Kehinde recently received a Spirit of Sussex Gold Award by The University of Sussex for his impactful contributions to extra-curricular activities and UK community at large. He holds a master’s degree in International Education and Development from University of Sussex, the best university in development studies for over 5 years according to the QS ranking by Subject.

The young and energetic Nigerian born has worked with professionals in Africa and Europe for over 8 years on sustainable development.

He will be attending Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation Goalkeepers Summit from 18th September 2023 to 22nd September 2023 to make impactful contributions and collaborations on how to advance and accelerate sustainable solutions globally.

The Goalkeepers community is a global collective collaborative and diverse changemakers. Members include both emerging and well-known leaders who live all over the world and represent an eclectic range of cultures, professions and interests. As a community, Goalkeepers are committed to achieving the 17 Global Goals for Sustainable Development.
