Oyo State Governor, ‘Seyi Makinde has stated that Ibadan Circular road project remains the single biggest investment that has come to Oyo State in the last fifty years
The Governor stated this on Saturday at a dinner with the Central Council of Ibadan Indigenes CCII and other affiliated Ibadan Socio-cultural groups held at Emeritus Professor Theophilus Ogunlesi multipurpose hall, opposite UCH main gate, Ibadan.
He equally admitted that the Airport road, which is currently being dualised, is almost 70 per cent completed, noting that the project will be opened for use before the end of the year.
“Across the major pillars, which this administration is rested upon, Ibadan has benefitted from those activities. And the last I will talk about is the Ibadan Circular Road. If you go to the both ends, you will see that work has begun on the interchange,” the governor stated.
Speaking further, Makinde noted that his administration has already committed ten percent of the thirty billion naira (N30b) earmarked for the project to enhance its take off.
He added that upon the completion of the project, the landscape of Ibadan will have a beautiful outlook.
He said: “At the moment, the government has committed 10 per cent of the resources that will be needed for the project, which is well above N30bn. So, in terms of volume, it is a project that will be worth more than N300bn. When we complete it, it will change the landscape.
“Those who reside around Akobo axis can testify to the fact that the second bridge we did on that axis was magical. It is the same magic you will see when we complete the first phase of Ibadan Circular road.
“And when we are finally done with the Circular road, the trailers going to Osun, Ekiti and other neighbouring states, won’t have any business in Iwo Road and Challenge.”
