The Nigerian Library Association (NLA), Edo State Chapter, held her 2023 Conference and AGM on the 20th September, 2023 at Wellspring University in Benin City.
The event was well-attended by participants from different institutions, including the University of Benin, Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma; Glorious Vision University, Ogwa; Auchi Polytechnic, Auchi; National Institute of Construction Technology and Management, Uromi; Igbinedion University, Okada; Benson Idahosa University, Benin City; Edo State College of Nursing, Benin City; Edo State College of Education, Edo State (Multi-campus); Federal College of Education (Technical), Ekiadolor; Wellspring University, Benin City; Edo State Library Board, Edo State Ministry of Education, and the Nigerian Television Authority.
Dignitaries from different walks of life also graced the occasion, including the Edo State Honorable Commissioner for Education, Dr. Joan Osa Oviawe, who was ably represented by Mr. Osawe Edwin, the Ag. Director, Exams and School Support Services. The conference was declared open by Prof. Isaac Rotimi Ajayi FNIP, the Vice Chancellor of Wellspring University and Chief Host of the occasion. The keynote address was delivered by Prof. Stephen Osahon Uwaifo.
The event featured several key activities, such as paper presentations by scholars from within and outside Edo State, and was climaxed with an Annual General Meeting of members, where several important issues were discussed.
The high point of the occasion was the investiture of Dr. Joan Osa Oviawe, the Honorable Commissioner for Education, Edo State, as the Matron of the Nigerian Library Association, Edo State Chapter. The Chairman of the association, Dr. Tony Ikponmwonsa Obaseki, expressed his appreciation to everyone who contributed to the success of the event
