The confirmation of the immediate past governor of Kaduna State, Malam Nasir El-Rufai was, on Monday, stopped by the Senate over security concerns.
El-Rufai was nominated by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu alongside 47 others to be screened and confirmed by the Senate as Minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
Out of 48 nominees that were screened, 45 of them were confirmed during Monday’s plenary.
In his remark after confirmation, Senate President, Godswill Akpabío revealed that Security agents are yet to clear the former governor of Kaduna State, hence, his confirmation has been declined.
Akpabío said: “El-Rufai and two others have not been cleared by security checks.”
Those not confirmed are Malam NasirEl-Rufai (Kaduna), Stella Okotete (Delta) and Danladi Umar (Taraba).
