Ekiti State Peoples Democratic Party Caretaker Transition Committee led by Architect Sodiq Obanoyen wishes to implore the State governor to get himself busier with the business of governance in the State and get to take decisive actions to effectively combat the security crisis in the State.
We believe it is imperative that the Governor, His Excellency Biodun Oyebanji, disentangles himself from extraneous populist activities and devotes his attention to securing the lives and properties of the Ekiti people. Populist endeavours may have their merits, but the primary responsibility of any government is to ensure the safety and security of her citizens.
We are suggesting that the governor must take immediate action by implementing robust security measures, increasing police presence, and collaborating with relevant security agencies to curb criminal activities in the State.Ekiti State, known for her relative peace and tranquility, is currently facing a serious security challenge characterised by rising criminal activities and increased incidents of kidnapping. The State government needs to take proactive measures to address this alarming situation.
The recent unfortunate incident involving Mr. Paul Omotoso, the State Chairman of the ruling Party, the All Progressives Congress, who fell victim to this dastardly act, is bothersome.
It is our opinion that the deteriorating security situation in Ekiti State demands immediate attention from the government. As it is disheartening to witness the transformation of a State known for her peaceful environment into a den of criminals and kidnappers. We wish the governor must acknowledge the severity of the issue and rise to the occasion to restore law and order, ensuring the safety and well-being of her citizens.
The recent incident involving Mr. Paul Omotoso, the State Chairman of the ruling Party, serves as a poignant reminder of the pressing need for action. This unfortunate event, which was brought to our attention within minutes, highlights the vulnerability of even prominent individuals within the State. It is a matter of grave concern that such esteemed members of society are falling victim to criminal acts. This incident should serve as a wake-up call for the ruling party to prioritise the security of its people.
Additionally, we are suggesting to the governor to focus on strengthening the State’s security infrastructure. This can be achieved through the allocation of adequate resources for the training and equipping of security personnel. Enhanced intelligence-gathering and information-sharing mechanisms should also be put in place to proactively identify and apprehend criminals.
Furthermore, we believe it is crucial to engage the community through awareness campaigns and encourage citizens to participate in neighborhood watch programs, fostering a collective effort in combating crime.
His Excellency Biodun Oyebanji, being the Chief Security Officer of the State, holds the key to addressing the current security crisis in the State. And he must rise to the occasion and prioritise the safety and well-being of the people of the State.
By disentangling himself from extraneous populist activities and focusing on implementing effective security measures, the governor should restore peace and tranquility to the State. Collaborative efforts with relevant stakeholders, increased police presence, and community engagement will be instrumental in achieving this objective. It is time for the government and the ruling party to take decisive action and secure the future of Ekiti State.
