Kingsley Uche Pius, a 35-year-old man down with kidney and heart failure, has appealed to the General public to help him raise N9 million for kidney transplant and treatment for heart failure in Abuja.
According to medical report, Pius was diagnosed with kidney failure in 2016 for which he had to have dialysis treatment at least 3 times a week.
His health situation worsened and further medical checks revealed he also has heart failure, a condition he has been managing since September 2020.
He was being treated at the Federal Medical center in Ebute Metta, Lagos, where he has been having his dialysis procedure.
He also sought further medical treatment at Zenith Medical and Kidney Centre, Abuja, where he was billed to have pre-transplant test.
Osung Bassey, a relative of Pius, said the family was financially drained while trying to get Pius the best medical treatment, which move the forced to begin the online crowdfunding.
“His visit to the Zenith Medical and Kindney Centre, Gudu Abuja, was a deliberate move to begin the process of undergoing pre-transplant test.
“Well, all efforts to have him achieve this objective at ZMKC, Abuja was uneventful. Having spent a lot of resources on pre transplant process, which was inadvertently unsuccessful, we were financially drained, and so we resorted to seek for financial assistance from family members, friends and the whole of Nigerians.
“On the basis of the foregoing, Uche has been battling to stay alive, and, this we trust can be achieved through the help of members of the public,” Bassey said.
The family is urging good-hearted Nigerians to support Pius medically as they promise to judicially spend every naira contributed towards his recovery.
“This has been a difficult and unexpected journey for his family. The treatment-related expenses and financial burden have been overwhelming. He had to sell all his property so that he can pay for his treatment but yet he is still on it.
“His tummy is quite enlarged, and his legs are swollen due to excess fluid in his body which is not properly dialyzed. Sometimes due to lack of funds, he only gets dialysis once or twice a week. His nutrition is poor as well without proper counseling and guidance from qualified nutritionists on his diet.
He was born in Lagos on 7th July, 1988 whose both parents are from Uli, Ihiala, Anambra State and completed his secondary education at Lagos Progressive Secondary School, Adeniran Ogunsanya, Surulere-Lagos in 2005.
Indeed, he went into private business where he deal on the sale of building materials. However, he became so successful and thrived so much in the business untill calamity strike in 2016, when he was diagnosed of having kidney disease and heart failure.
“I am pleading with Nigerians and citizens of other countries to save me from kidney and heart failure. Please, come to my aid. I am in pain and I don’t want to die now but to live to the Glory of God,” Uche appealed.
