Oyo Iyaloja-General, Princess Abeo, Condoles Oyo Residents, Family Over Death Of Chief Ogunmola

The Iyaloja General of Oyo State, Princess Folashade Azeezat Abeo, has expressed heartfelt condolences to the residents of Oyo and the family of the late Otun of Oyo land, High Chief M. O Ogunmola, following his demise.

In a condolence message released by her media aide, Mr. Rahmon A. Alawode, Princess Abeo described the late former Nigerian Ambassador to Zambia and Malawi, and Proprietor of Alliance West African Hotel, High Chief M.O Ogunmola, as a visionary and compassionate leader.

The late Chief passed away on Sunday shortly after being brought from Oyo to a private health facility in Ibadan. Abeo highlighted the deceased’s significant contributions, noting that he was among the first graduates from ancient Oyo town and credited with single-handedly building the renowned Ladigbolu Grammar School, Oyo.

She expressed sorrow at the loss of an administrator, culture enthusiast, and prominent chief in the council of the late Oba Lamidi Adeyemi III, the Alaafin of Oyo, stating that his passing creates a substantial void.

“Baba’s demise marks the departure of a distinguished community leader and educator, leaving indelible marks as a custodian of cultural heritage and traditions. His life’s work has been transformative, especially in preserving our cultural heritage at a time when many were abandoning it for foreign cultures.”

Abeo continued, “He was an inspiring father figure, and he will be deeply missed for the pivotal role he played as a High Chief of the Oyo empire. Baba Otun, sun re o,” she prayed.

The Iyaloja General urged Oyo residents and Nigerians from all walks of life to honor the late Chief’s memory by embracing virtues such as generosity, tolerance, unity, foresight, and devotion.

Finally, Princess Abeo offered prayers for the eternal rest of High Chief M.O Ogunmola’s soul and extended comfort to the family, friends, associates, relatives, subjects, and residents of Oyo land he left behind.
