In the last 3 years of creating Amotekun corps, their contributions as always been felt in the security architecture of the state.

AMOTEKUN is indeed a first of its kind security agency because it is a regional security outfit initiated by one of Nigeria’s six geopolitical zones.

On the 18th November, 2020, Oyo State Governor, His Excellency, Engr. Seyi Makinde FNSE declared Oyo State Security Network Agency codenamed AMOTEKUN Corps operational in the Pacesetter state.

Oyo State has witnessed significant improvements in the security architecture with the active support of the Amotekun Corps. The leadership and men of Oyo Amotekun Corps should be commended for their professionalism and Synergy with other security agencies in the course of securing the lives and properties of residents of our dear State for the past three years of their establishment.

“I promised that our administration would continue to give Oyo Amotekun the maximum support needed as they collaborate with other security agencies to secure our dear State”, Gov. Seyi Makinde stated.

The above statement can be felt in the way the Governor has effectively support Oyo Amotekun Corps. The outfit has over 150 patrol vehicles, hundreds of motorcycles, thousands of protective gadgets, for the use of the operatives during the discharge of their duties within the state.

Oyo Amotekun is designed to help in combating insecurity in all the nooks and crannies of the state.

The outfit is complementing the effort of the Nigerian Police and other security agencies. In Oyo State, Engr Seyi Makinde FNSE led administration has four pillars; namely Education, Health, Security and Expansion of Economy through Agribusiness and Tourism.

So, security is a major pillar for all others and I believe government cannot have any development in an atmosphere that is not secure and this as led to all the commitments the governor had shown so far to the agency, Oyo State Security Network and Amotekun Corps by giving them maximum support and strengthen their physical power as the Chief Security Officer of the state.

DID YOU KNOW?

Oyo State has the highest number of Amotekun Operatives in the Southwest. Oyo Amotekun was operationalized with 1,500 operatives, and 500 more were being added.

This is just one way the Oyo State Government ensures that we (residents) sleeps with both eyes closed.

They have changed the security landscape of our dear state. We are grateful to all Amotekun Corps members across the state who put their lives on the line daily to secure Oyo State.

May God Almighty continue to safeguard all the operatives of Oyo Amotekun, (Amen).
