Oyo State Governor, ‘Seyi Makinde, has taken oath of office as the reelected governor of the state.
He was sworn in by the Chief Judge of Oyo State, Justice Iyabo Yerima at a well attended ceremony at the Liberty Stadium, Ibadan.
Makinde’s oath of office taking was preceded by the swearing in of Barrister Bayo Lawal as the Deputy Governor of the state.
The governor inspected the 164 Guards of Honour after his swearing-in amid cheers from the mammoth crowd present.
The governor, clad in cream agbada with a brown cap to match, pledged to preserve, protect and preserve the office as governor as well as deliver on his promise to the people of the state.
NewsBreakNaija reports that Makinde won in 31 out of the 33 local government areas of the State, leaving his closest challenger and candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Teslim Folarin, with only two LGAs.
Makinde is the second governor to win re-election in Oyo State after the late Abiola Ajimobi.
Present at the historic ceremony were dignitaries from across the country, members of the public, party stakeholders, top government functionaries of the out-going administration and a host of others.
