Dear President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Babajide Sanwoolu of Lagos State, I hope this message finds you amidst the celebration of your victories. As someone who financially supported your rise to offices at different times, I am proud to emphasise that you are my preferred leaders in government. Be that as it may, the time has come for me to assert my position, which I believe resonates with millions of Nigerians, regarding the brutal killing of singer, Promise Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad.

The media has been overwhelmed with reports (some accompanied by evidence) detailing the assault and violence inflicted upon the deceased. Shockingly, it has been substantially revealed and, hence, it is probable that the heinous acts that led to his demise were carried out by individuals closely associated with those in positions of power.

As if that was not distressing enough, government agencies such as the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) and Nigeria Police Force have been implicated in this abhorrent incident. This raises serious concerns about the likelihood of complicity of our government in such despicable acts as earlier positioned.

It is imperative for the government’s sake and the well-being of the Nigerian people that reasonable answers are provided to the multitude of questions that have left reasonable Nigerians restless, both within our borders and abroad. I demand accountability and transparency within a reasonable time.

Please be informed that the gravity of this issue cannot be understated. History has shown that such injustices have the potential to ignite unrest, like the incident of Mohamed Bouazizi leading to the Arab Spring in 2010 and the nationwide protests following the tragic killing of George Floyd in the USA in 2020.

As an activist, I am deeply concerned about this matter, in addition to access to my attorneys and legal operatives, I am making a donation of One million Naira (1,000,000) to the foundation of Mrs. Iyabo Ojo who has been vocal in the demand for answers to salient questions on this matter. Moreover, I call upon all Nigerians, (home and abroad) to mobilise support in order to expose and condemn this atrocious and inhumane act.

Time is of the essence! I, therefore, implore you to take swift and decisive action. The people of Nigeria are counting on your leadership to bring about justice and ensure the safety of all citizens. Setting up of a Judicial Panel of Enquiry is extremely necessary to expose the circumstances surrounding the demise of the deceased person and I so demand that one should be set up.

Yours passionately,

Mr. Jegede writes from New York, United States of Africa (USA).
