Medmina College Celebrates Cultural Day In Grand Style

It was a vibrant showcase of Nigeria’s rich and diverse cultural heritage last Saturday when Medmina College held her annual Cultural Day celebration. The event was an unforgettable experience that highlighted the unique traditions, cuisines, and artistry of Nigeria, along with a glimpse into the shared legacy of ethnic groups along the West African coast.


The day began with a colorful journey through traditional attire, as students and staff proudly adorned garments representing various Nigerian ethnic groups. Each outfit was a masterpiece, narrating stories of identity, pride, and artistry that have been passed down through generations. This celebration of culture extended to the dining hall, where a feast of traditional Nigerian dishes awaited. Guests were treated to a culinary journey that brought together the spicy, savory, and sweet flavors from across the nation—a true testament to the unity in Nigeria’s diversity.

The event also highlighted cultural connections beyond Nigeria, with insights into the traditions of West African ethnic groups. In his address, the Head of Administration, Dr. Abdallah Muhammad, reminded parents of the school’s unwavering commitment to providing students with well-rounded experiences that prepare them to excel not only academically but also in understanding their heritage.

“Retain your trust in us,” he urged parents, “as we strive to ensure our students shine in all aspects of life by providing them with a cocktail of experiences.”


The Founder of the school, Alhaji AbdulHameed Mohammed, further charged parents to encourage their children to stay connected to their roots. “Culture is a way of life and cannot be overlooked. Knowing one’s history and heritage is essential for building a strong sense of identity,” he emphasized.

In addition, Alhaji AbdulHameed Mohammed said, “at Medmina College, we firmly believe that diversity is our strength. Through events like the concluded Cultural Day, we nurture a community united by shared heritage and boundless potential. We are proud to play a role in preserving and celebrating the cultural treasures of our nation while preparing our students to contribute meaningfully to the world.”


Parents expressed their heartfelt appreciation at the end of the event, commending the school’s efforts in fostering cultural awareness and creating memorable experiences for the students. Their feedback was filled with gratitude for what many described as “a most amazing event.”

The day concluded with a feast following Dhuhr (midday) prayers, as parents, staff, and students came together in a spirit of togetherness. Medmina College’s Cultural Day 2024 was not just an event—it was a celebration of identity, unity, and pride, leaving an indelible mark on all who attended.
