The Vice Chancellor of the University of Ibadan, Professor Kayode Adebowale, has commended Oyo State Governor, Engr Seyi Makinde, for his unwavering support and generosity to the growth and development of the institution.
Adebowale gave the commendation, on Thursday, in his address during the occasion of the 2022 convocation, 74th foundation day ceremony and award of doctorate degrees of the University of Ibadan.
He noted that the governor Makinde has, no doubt, adopted the institution as the 34th Local Government Area of the state.
“I want to warmly welcome His Excellency, The Governor of Oyo State, Engineer Seyi Makinde, who has been supportive of the University in diverse ways.
“In fact, from the way Engineer Seyi Makinde has been supporting us, it seems he has finally recognised our status as the 34th local government area of Oyo State,” Adebowale noted.
The VC equally congratulated all the 153 candidates from various disciplines awarded Doctor of Philosophy degrees of the institution.
He further noted that despite challenge of funding, the institution remains the first in the country, in West Africa and has now moved to the seventh in Africa.
