Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke has reiterated his administration’s commitment to prioritize the welfare of workers in the state, declaring a new dawn for workers in the employment of the state civil service.
Governor Adeleke renewed the assurance on Tuesday during an interactive session with labour leaders in the state, expressing his administration’s readiness to listen to workers’ plights and address them.
The event which had top government functionaries and political leaders in attendance, including the Deputy Governor, Prince Kola Adewusi, Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Teslim Igbalaye, and others, underscored the beginning of a smooth relationship between workers and the government as labour leaders named Governor Adeleke “Comrade Governor”.
“Let me assure you that I will be open and friendly to workers. So, workers have a friend in this government, and not only will we listen to you, but do our best to make sure they are addressed,” the Governor noted.
Governor Adeleke expressed his administration’s readiness to look into grievances of the workers with the past administration, but however, pleaded for time to enable the government have a better understanding of many of the issues.
Earlier, the Deputy Governor, Prince Kola Adewusi had assured workers of the administration’s readiness to collaborate with them in moving the state forward, calling for support of the civil service in serving the people of the state.
“I want to reiterate that this administration considers workers as a critical partner in moving this state forward”, he noted.
Responding on behalf of the labour leaders, the Trade Union Congress (TUC) Chairman, Comrade Adekola Adebowale, appreciated the Governor for the interactive session, saying it conveys how much importance the new administration placed on civil servants in the state.
He said workers in the state have no reason to doubt Governor Adeleke’s commitment to workers given that he comes from a family that keeps promises, declaring the total support of workers in the state to the new administration.
“Let the Governor be assured that workers in the State will support him fully and in fact, give him the support that no other government in the history of the State has ever enjoyed,” Comrade Adebowale said.
At the interactive session were the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Trade Union Congress (TUC), Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT), National Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE), Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Nigeria Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), Road Transport Employees Association of Nigeria (RTEAN), Academic Staff Union of University (ASUU), Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria (JUSUN), Parliamentary Staffs Association of Nigeria (PASAN), RATTAWU, NASU, SSANU, NUPP, ASSON, and many others.
