Association of market traders and artisans in Oyo town, Ibarapa, Oke-ogun and Ogbomoso traders have expressed their profound gratitude to the Central Council of Ibadan Indigenes (CCII) for making the Iyaloja general of Oyo state, Princess Folashade Abeo Nurudeen, more popular and acceptable by the indigenes of Ibadan with its recent publication.
Recall that the peace loving Socio Cultural group had on Thursday disclosed that the body will stand by merit, competence, due process and level playing ground for the selection of Iyaloja General of Oyo state.
The group, which also stressed on the need of having capable hands to pilot the affairs of market traders in Oyo state, especially during this digital era, however made it clearly known that whoever would be officially announced as the authentic Iyaloja General, must be someone with leadership prowess and sound educational background which their preferred candidate, Princess Abeo duly possessed.
In a statement signed on Friday by its spokesperson, Aduke Oyeleke, the Iyalaje of Oke-ogun, she stated that CCII had been able to increase the popularity of their preferred candidate by publishing the qualities it listed for the person who should be formally named the Iyaloja general.
She also added that Princess Abeo had not only demonstrated her leadership qualities by empowering market traders on her own, but had also managed to gain the respect of all traders in Oyo.
Princess Abeo has become more impactful in the state even to the Youth corps members and NYSC in the state and also putting smiles on the faces of market traders and students.
The statement, which further quoted CCII that it would not close her eyes while some people are fanning the embers of animosity that will disrupt the pleasant atmosphere of peace that Ibadan and Oyo state is enjoying, however, confirmed that Princess Abeo has always been a peace-loving person who gets along with people from all backgrounds and has never used foul language against anyone.
“This Abeo has never for once undervalued CCII or declined an invitation from them because she views them as a sociocultural organisation that values competence over mediocrity and promotes peace.”
“We want to urge Governor Seyi Makinde to address the ongoing situation as we equally implore CCII to keep up their position of valuing credibility and due process.
“While we also appreciate His Excellency’s official confirmation of Ibadan man as Babaloja general, we hope that the same official confirmation should be extended to Princess Folashade Abeo Nurudeen as the Iyaloja General of Oyo State.”
