The Ambassador Oke Idawene-led executive has debunked reports of their purported sack by the leadership of party, saying they remain state excos of the SDP according to the Constitution.
Recall that reports said the state exco of the party was dissolved with immediate effect, sacking the state Chairman, Mr. Oke Idawene.
The dissolution was contained in a letter from the National Working Committee, (NWC), signed by National Secretary, Dr.Olu Agunloye.
According to the letter, the NWC’s decision was due to the chairman’s inability to resolve the protracted crisis within Delta State Chapter of the party, worse more, the unworthy roles being played by members of the State Executive Committee in this matter.
SDP also approved the constitution of Delta
State Caretaker Committee and the appointment of Mrs Esther Ikule, as the Acting State Chairman of Delta State Chapter.
But in a swift reaction, Idawene in a statement on Wednesday morning, said his sack is null and void.
His words: “This is a lie from the pit of hell. Did Dr Olu Agunloye hold his meeting midnight with witches and wizards?
This same Olu Agunloye forged a letter during the Election to INEC Delta State without the knowledge of the NWC .
The National Sec has no powers to sack us. We were duly elected by Congress. And have right to reject Olorogun Kenneth Gbagi who is an error to the party.
“The entire public should disregard this information..Delta State SDP is intact. NWC meetings are Thursdays. No meeting was held for sack of SDP Delta State Excos. It is a joke taken too far. Gbagi remains a stranger in SDP. Can a passenger sack a driver or tenant sack landlord?”
“We rejected him for gross misconduct, anti party and disregard and disrespect to the party. He was never ready for election,” he opined.
Adding: “The said letter that spoke about my sack came out at about 3a.m. on Wednesday. What does that tell you? They are desperadoes, but they have failed.”
