The executive chairman of Ibadan Northeast local government, Hon. Ibrahim Àkintayo on Thursday swore in the newly elected Councillors of the council.
The new council legislators of Ibadan Northeast local government were elected in a poll organized by the Oyo State Independent Electoral Commission (OYSIEC).
Only one political party candidates, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) won all the councilorship seats in the Local government in the election conducted on Saturday, April 27th, 2024.
Speaking to the elected Counselors shortly after they had taken the oath of office, at the local government secretariat, Iwo road, Ibadan, Akintayo challenged the lawmakers to “brace for hard work, as the challenges ahead will stretch them, adding that, for them to be successful, they need concentration and devotion to duty.
He urged the council lawmakers to work together, irrespective of beliefs and opinions because the success of the locals depends on them.
Akintayo further charged them to be teachable, learn new things, and try those new things as this would give them an advantage in the discharge of their responsibilities as council lawmakers.
While encouraging them to see the people who elected them as the owners of the office, the chairman urged them to carry out the good work for which they were democratically elected.
