How Partnership Between UNITAR, CSCHEI Will Open Donor Agencies, Development Partners, Intervention Grants – Kunle Yusuff MON

The Civil Society Organizations on Community Advancement and Humanitarian Empowerment Initiative (CSCHEI), has achieved a significant milestone as it signed a partnership agreement and a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) at its headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland.

The delegation, led by CSCHEI Director-General Kunle Yusuff, emphasised the importance of this partnership, which is the first of its kind between UNITAR and a Nigerian civil society organizations coordinating platform.

Yusuff presented working documents outlining CSCHEI’s role as a coordinating platform for civil society organizations, community-based organizations, and faith-based organizations working on social development, community enhancement, and humanitarian efforts, all of which align closely with the United Nations’ SDG Agenda 2030.

He concluded by highlighting the importance of the partnership and MoU in facilitating effective coordination among donor agencies, development partners, civil society organizations, non-governmental organizations, and faith-based organizations.

In his remark, the Director of UNITAR’s Peace Division, Evariste Karambizi, expressed confidence that the collaboration would benefit governments, civil society organizations, and non-governmental organizations working on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), climate change financing, and environmental issues.

Karambizi expressed hope that the MoU would pave the way for increased access to intervention grants for SDG and climate-related projects and programs.

Also speaking, Olivet Vandam, Senior Manager representing the United Nations Satellite Centre (UNOSAT), confirmed that the agreement would also cover UNOSAT’s mandate.

Amb. Lawrence Boms, affirmed the organization’s commitment to taking the partnership and MoU agreement seriously, with a particular focus on climate change action advocacy.
