The gubernatorial candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Teslim Folarin, has berated the presidential candidate of the party, Bola Tinubu for saying he would remove fuel subsidy if elected as president.
Folarin, who was a guest of Mayor Isaac Brown on Fresh FM Ibadan, recently said Tinubu committed a tactical blunder for saying he (Tinubu) would remove fuel subsidy if he becomes the next president.
He noted that Asiwaju should have known that the submission would not go well with some forces who are against his presidency, and would fight back.
While saying that the Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria, Godwin Emefiele, was totally wrong on the timing of the Naira Redesign policy, Folarin taunted the CBN Boss for not playing ‘independence and netrality’ and not consulting the National Assembly.
The Oyo APC gubernatorial candidate, however, commended Tinubu for being bold and courageous enough to admit he would remove fuel subsidy upon his presidency, adding that “the subsidy regime is fraudulent”
In His words: “If you ask me, I would say Asiwaju made a tactical blunder by saying he would remove fuel subsidy.
“They are going to fight back, that’s what we are saying, they are going to fight back. It was not APC’s policy. This man did not consult the National Assembly. People should not see the programme as our policy. Though, he is supposed to be independent but what he is doing is very wrong.
“It is even wrong for Emefiele to have said he wanted to become the president of Nigeria. They started getting forms for him and when he discovered he would not get it, he started misbehaving. The subsidy regime is fradulent. Asiwaju is couragoes to have said he will remove it.
“You see, the candidate himself, Tinubu, can defend himself. The people playing this game now know they cannot succeed. This is worse than EndSARS protest. I am not sure the Presidency knows about this game they are playing.
“This is bad. People are not asking for loans but their money. They are sabotaging our efforts and we understand this game very well. The people hurting Nigerians, Emefiele and the cabals, know that Nigerians are suffering. As good as it is, the timing is wrong. The deadline is to make things difficult and they don’t want election to hold. But I qant to appeal to our people not to destroy assets.
“I expect the President to do the right thing soon. CBN should follow the law and make people spend the old and new notes simulataneously.”
