…Donates 1 Million Naira for Community Development Project
The immediate past Chairman of Oyo East Local Government, Kosobo, Oyo, Hon. Prince Arowosaye Saheed Adeyemi Arosad, received a heroic welcome at his ward, Alaodi/Modeke Community Development Association, after handing over to the new Chairman.
Royal fathers, including Baba-Iyaji of Oyo, High Chief Afonja Mukaila, Alaodi of Oyo, Chief Fatai Ayantunji Akanbi, and Olusami of Oyo land, Alhaji Chief Shittu Bashiru Akinyenu, along with all the sons and daughters of Alaodi-Modeke, received the former chairman at the Community Hall, Amulogbo area, Oyo, today. They described him as a hero who has made them proud.
Speaking at the gathering, Olusami of Oyo land, Alhaji Chief Shittu Bashiru Akinyenu, acknowledged that the former chairman, Hon. Prince Arowosaye Saheed Adeyemi, deserves a heroic welcome based on his exemplary performance while in office.
According to him, “Today, June 9, 2024, will be a memorable, eventful, and unforgettable day in your life when this community reflects on your 4 years and 3 months administration as the Executive Chairman of Oyo East Local Government.”
“The political journey was tough and rough, but with God’s grace, you navigated through these torrents of problems gallantly.
The last lap of the administration witnessed a lot of plots based on fabricated lies designed to capsize the ship of your administration. Your transparency and accountability vindicated you. You were cleared excellently. You came, you saw, and you conquered.
“Aja to lo sile Ile Ekun to bo, A ki o ku oriire. You understand the mathematics of politics, you are a dynamic leader and sound administrator, and your performance is highly commendable and enviable. You are our pride.”
In every event, you loudly and clearly sang the praises of our highly honored indefatigable Governor, His Excellency Engr. Seyi Makinde, who created an enabling environment, provided support, guidance, and commitment that allowed you to achieve many accomplishments.
He commended Prince Arowosaye’s significant strides in community development, stating that he deserves a heroic welcome for his brilliant performance while in office, including solely financing the building of Alaodi-Modeke Community Hall, renovating Olusami Health Center, empowering youths and elders, providing scholarships for indigent students, offering material support to many, employing Ad-hoc staff, and sponsoring numerous people for holy pilgrimage.
Also, Baba-Iyaji of Oyo land, High Chief Afonja Mukaila, lauded the former chairman’s leadership strides towards uplifting and transforming the Oyo East traditional council and fostering coexistence among divergent groups in the local government.
He urged him not to relent in his efforts towards promoting humanitarian development, assuring him of continuous support in his political journey.
Alaodi/Modeke Community Chairman, Alhaji Y.B. Raji, reaffirmed the essence of the maiden heroic welcome staged for the best-performing chairman. He said Arowosaye Saheed spent his life listening to their requests and approving them without delay.
“Whatever we needed, he made sure to provide it, often from his own pocket, without waiting for government support. Alaodi-Modeke Ward 03 will be grateful to you forever,” he stated.
In their separate goodwill messages, Alhaji Waheed Mobolaji, Mrs. Oladejo, and J.B. Salawu (CDC Treasurer) applauded his leadership prowess in uplifting grassroots governance, ensuring adequate health facilities, and equitable distribution of resources directly to the people.
Alaodi of Oyo land, Chief Fatai Ayantunji Akanni, on behalf of the Alaodi-Modeke community, presented the Award of Excellence to Hon. Arowosaye Saheed Adeyemi in recognition of his good governance, service delivery, and exemplary contributions to the development of the Alaodi-Modeke community.
The PDP Party Chairman of Oyo East Local Government, Hon. Sakiru Ojo, praised the former council chairman for his inclusive governance at the grassroots.
He noted that Arowosaye’s international experience while in office helped to resolve the re-construction of the ultra-modern design of the Akesan Market, useful for trades till today, and set up the peace and security committee comprising all stakeholders and heads of security agencies at the grassroots.
He highlighted the mega empowerment of over 200 young people with items such as cars, motorcycles, sewing machines, hairdressing materials, seed capital for startups, and ensuring over 100 people from Oyo East benefited from agribusiness training held in Nasarawa.
In conjunction with the state government, his administration commenced the construction of a primary health center in Alaodi-Modeke to boost healthcare delivery, while some primary schools received a facelift with rehabilitation, provision of classroom furniture, continuous support to farmers to increase their harvest, ensuring food security in the local government, and hiring out local government-owned tractors at a lower rate.
Sakiru Ojo emphatically stated that Arowosaye’s unwavering commitment to the betterment of his community and the empowerment of its residents is evident in his accomplishments and contributions across various sectors.
His vision and passion for service continue to make a positive impact in Oyo East Local Government and beyond.
In his remarks, Hon. Prince Arowosaye Saheed Adeyemi expressed gratitude to God, the traditional council, Olusami, Baba-Iyaji, Alaodi, and other chiefs for their sincere support since the inception of his political journey in Oyo East Local Government.
He said: “In just four years and three months of administration at the local government, we provided equitable grassroots governance where the dividends of democracy were achieved by all, and that’s exactly what we did.
“It was clear that our administration performed excellently well. Under our stewardship, we’ve positively impacted lives.
That, for me, is my joy. I thank all of you who stood by us; it was never easy, and life is not always easy.”
“I’m overwhelmed by today’s uncommon heroic welcome, the first of its kind in the history of Oyo Federal Constituency,” he said.
The former council chairman donated one million naira (#1,000,000.00) for a community development project.
The ceremony featured cultural displays, poetry, presentation of gifts to the former chairman, and several other activities.
Present at the ceremony were Hon. Olalekan Jimoh Akeem (TESCOM), Hon. Akin Ilyas Alawode (G.L.O), Hon. Sakiru Ojo, Hon. Akinwumi Ejalonibu, Baba Mukaila Oladokun, Hon. Oyewole Oyewo (SUBEB), former Council Secretary, Hon. Owolabi Mumini Iretiwa, former councilors, and former special advisers.
Others in attendance included ward women leaders, ward chairmen, ward vice chairmen, party youth leaders, and other party stakeholders.
