The Candidate of People’s Democratic Party in the ongoing State Assembly Election has called for immediate arrest of Ikere Ekiti Local Government Chairman, Mr Femi Ayodele (Otunba) for what she described as act of terrorism on the good people of Ikere at the poll.
Hon. Simi Olusola, a candidate for EKHA, Ikere Constituency II, condemned in its entirety the terror unleashed on her constituents, including the former deputy governor of Ekiti state, Prof. Kolapo Olusola Eleka, by the council chairman, calling the security agencies, traditional leaders and other stakeholder to salvage Ikere from turning into a lawless town.
In a press release signed by the candidate, she said electoral process was going on peacefully before Mr Ayodele led some terrifying thugs to all the polling units in Constituency II to cause mayhem that scared electorates away from exercising their franchise.
Speaking, she said electorates were molested by thugs which is unprecedented in the history of Ikere political history.
She said: “There are empirical evidences of election disruption in Ofamofuru polling unit at Okeruku Ward where ballot boxes were destroyed.
“This charade cannot stand the test of time as every legal means to bring the perpetrators of this disdainful act to book will be explored.”
Simi, added that the orchestration has continued in all polling units considered not favourable for them, having seen that the APC candidate is not acceptable to the good people of Ikere.
“The most unfortunate was how our respected leader and former deputy governor was treated shabbily by these uncultured elements.
“After his attention was called to the distruption and in an attempt to intervene, the chairman ordered his thugs to beat up his son, and tore his clothe. As if that was not enough, he asked them to throw big stones at him but was rescued by security personnel. This is quite unfortunate,” she added.
Appreciating the good people of Ikere for their untainted support, she assured that all necessary actions to correct the abnormalities will be put in place.
She, therefore, called on Ekiti State Governor and most especially the Deputy Governor, Chief Mrs. Afuye who hails from Ikere to call Femi Ayodele to order
