Educators, Parents Must Give Every Child The Best Of Education – Mohammed A. AbdulHameed

It was another remarkable event last Saturday in the history of Medmina College, Ibadan, when she celebrated her 7th speech, prize-giving and graduation ceremony. The programme which was held at the school’s hall had dignitaries in attendance to grace the occasion.  

The founder of the school, Alhaji Mohammed A. AbdulHameed, expressed his heartfelt gratitude for the unwavering support and dedication of members of the Management Board, the PTA Chairman, the staff, parents and well-wishers to the school. “It is with great pride and joy that we celebrate the graduation of our students, marking an important milestone in their lives.”

He recounted the mercies of God who helped to withstand and maneuver the giant strides of the ever-evolving society we live in, all through the years even though the school made significant progress and growth. “Throughout the years, we have strived to provide a nurturing and conducive learning environment for our students. However, we also acknowledge the need for continuous development and improvement within our school – development that beckons on all stakeholders; The School, The Parents and also The Students.”

 AbdulHameed, pledged his allegiance to the stakeholders, saying, since education is an ever-evolving field, it is therefore their responsibility as educators and parents to ensure that every child receives the best possible education. “We firmly believe that investing in school development is crucial in preparing our students for the challenges of the future.

By enhancing our school facilities, updating our curriculum, and providing professional development opportunities for our teachers, we can create an environment that fosters creativity, critical thinking, and lifelong learning. These improvements will not only benefit our current students but also lay a solid foundation for generations to come.

Together, we can create a school that not only educates but also inspires and empowers our students to reach their full potential. We owe it to them to provide an education that prepares them for the ever-changing world they will step into.”

The Founder reminded the stakeholders that school development requires financial resources but reassured them of the management’s commitment to exploring various avenues to secure the necessary funds.  He therefore prayed the stakeholders for a continued support and involvement in this endeavor. “We still confidently mention that MCI is still not in the profit-making stage, yet even after ten years, it has all been investment after investment. But again, we remain resilient and hopeful on God for the betterment of our children and the school at large.”

In his opening address, the Parents Teachers Association (P.T.A) chairman, Alhaji Nurain Zakariyah, congratulated all stakeholders for another successful academic year for the school and also testified that it has been a privilege and an honour to serve, working alongside dedicated parents, staff and students to enhance the educational experience for all.

Thrilled by the accomplishment of the 2023 graduating set, in academics, arts, sports, and individual developments which were proud of, Zakariyah said to the students, “Your enthusiasm, creativity and hard work have been inspiring; you have made us proud. It is your passion and drive that made our school such a vibrant and dynamic place to learn and grow.”

He commended the staff for their unwavering commitment to the students’ education and well-being which he said was truly remarkable, above and beyond expectation. These have all been displayed in the countless hours invested in shaping the future of the students, their expertise, guidance, and support. are invaluable.

The chairman was also thankful to the parents for their involvement and support that have been instrumental in creating a strong school community. Their active participation and support of initiatives was said to have made a significant impact on the success of all programs. In addition, the parents’ partnership and collaboration which have been crucial in no small measure, was appreciated.

While rounding up his speech, Zakariyah reminded parents that the institution is obviously not just a place to bring their kids to learn alone, but also a place to contribute their quota to all round growth.

The Head of Administration of the institution, Dr. Muhammad Abdallah, acknowledged the sacrifices made by the graduating set to achieve their goals, characterized by the countless hours spent studying, the late nights working on assignments which have all shaped them into the remarkable individuals they have become. “This is a day that marks the culmination of years of hard work, dedication, and perseverance. It is a day that symbolizes the beginning of a new chapter in your lives, filled with endless possibilities and opportunities. Throughout your time here, you have not only acquired knowledge and skills but also learned the importance of collaboration, critical thinking, and adaptability. These qualities will serve as the foundation upon which you build your future successes.”

He charged them to remember that education is not just about gaining knowledge; it is about developing the ability to apply that knowledge in practical ways. He also reminded the students that true success is not measured solely by academic achievements or professional accomplishments. It is also defined by the kind of person they become and the impact they have on the world around them.

“As you go forth into the world, remember that you are equipped with the tools to make a difference. Embrace the challenges that lie ahead, pursue your passions, and always strive for excellence. I have no doubt that the class of 2023 will go on to achieve great things, leaving an indelible mark on the world – “Legends” as they have named themselves. The Legends have successfully broken past records and set new ones in every examination they have sat for in their final year up until this moment – IGCSE, GCE, UTME and SAT. We hope for an even better performance when WAEC is released later this month. Cherish the memories you have made here, stay connected with your alma mata, and never forget the values instilled in you during your time with us. Congratulations, graduates! May your future be filled with success, happiness, and fulfillment.”

In his graduation speech, the outgoing Senior Prefect (Male), Muhammad Aliyu Buba, on behalf of “the Legend set” thanked God who saw them through their secondary school education, a journey he tagged “an incredible chapter.” He showered his alma mata with praise, haven been nurtured in faith, intellect and character. an institution that has nurtured our faith, intellect, and character. The senior prefect pleaded with his classmates to be ambassadors of compassion, knowledge, and peace, striving to make a positive difference wherever they go and be true agents of social change.

Muhammad also eulogized the graduands’ families, who have been pillars of strength and greatest sources of inspiration. “Your unwavering love, support, and sacrifices have propelled us forward, even in the face of challenges. You have believed in us, encouraged us, and stood by our side through thick and thin. Today, as I stand here on this stage, on behalf of my classmates, we owe our achievements to your unwavering support and the values you have instilled in us. We are forever grateful for the opportunites you have provided us and for being our constant source of love and encouragement. To the school community, thank you for providing a nurturing environment that fosters our spiritual, intellectual, and emotional growth. Your support, encouragement, and commitment to excellence have been instrumental in shaping our educational experience. From the administrative staff to the support personnel, every member of the Medmina College community has played a significant role in our journey, and we extend our deepest appreciation to all of you. To our dedicated teachers, you are the guiding lights who have illuminated our paths to knowledge and personal growth.”
