The Ansarudeen Society of Nigeria, ADS, on Thursday, expressed delight over the reappointment of S.A on Islamic Affairs, Imam Sheikh Abdulrasheed Abdulazeez, by Governor ‘Seyi Makinde, to continue in the same capacity he served during the first term of the administration.
The team, during a visit led by the National Vice President of the Association, Alhaji Abdul Waheed Ajao and Alhaji Yekeen Adebayo (Eleyele Branch Chairman) to his office at the Secretariat, Agodi, Ibadan, on Thursday, described the reappointment by the governor as commendable, saying it would spur Abdulazeez to do more.
While maintaining that with Abdulazeez track record as a seasoned Islamic Scholar and public administrator, he would prove his mettle quickly in his new assignment, they maintained that Abdulazeez silently achieved many things for the Muslim ummah in the last administration without making noise.
“God really used him for us through the governor in the first term and we can confidently liken this reappointment to a round peg in a round hole. He is a silent achiever and does not make noise.
“We have always known Imam Abdulazeez to be a God-conscious, honest and reliable muslim and he has proved time and again that he is a go-getter when it comes to issues relating to Islam in the state.
“We have confidence in the talent and ability of this humble servant of Allah to let the Muslim community begin to operate in a better and more successful way,” they stated.
They, however, prayed that Allah would continue to grant him the grace to consolidate his reputation as with higher records of performance and achievements in his new assignment.
In his response, Sheikh Abdulazeez, while appreciating the Governor, Eng Seyi Makinde And his Deputy, Aare Musulumi of Yorubaland, Edo and Delta States, Alhaji Dawud Akinola, the league of Imams & Alfas in the state for their prayers, promised to do better and make the Muslim Ummah proud once again.
He said: “I will say this is a call for me to do better than before. Firstly, I thank the Almighty Allah SWT. I appreciate the Governor who deemed it fit to reappoint me. I can’t but also appreciate Aare Musulumi of Yorubaland, Edo and Delta States, Alhaji Dawud Akinola, league of Imams for their efforts and prayers. I appreciate everyone and will not let you down.”
“Having said that, I want to assure us that we need to remain calm because the governor will continue to do well for the Muslims insha a Allah Wabiqudratilaah, in this second term. He will not discriminate against any religion and would even do better things for us in his Omituntun 2.0 administration.”
Highlight of the visit was the presentation of a congratulatory letter by the Chairman of Ansarudeen, Eleyele branch, Alhaji Yekeen Adebayo, to Imam Abdulrasheed.
