Akintayo Mourns Olubadan Of Ibadanland, Says Late Monarch Came, Saw, Conquered

The Executive Chairman of Ibadan North East local government, Hon. Ibrahim Akintayo, has described the death 42nd Olubadan of Ibadan Land, His Imperial Majesty Oba Mohood Olalekan Balogun, Alli Okunmade II as a great to to sons and daughters of Ibadanland.

The first-class monarch died on Thursday night at the University College Hospital (UCH) Ibadan, a few hours after he was admitted into the tertiary health facility.

Akintayo, in an early Friday morning statement, said that Oba Mohood Olalekan Balogun left to meet his ancestor when the ovation was loud. He described the highly educated Ibadan King as a liberator and a role model to Ibadan’s Sons and Daughters.

He expressed his heartfelt condolences to the immediate family of the late Olubadan, the Oyo state government, CCII, Sons, and daughters of Ibadanland, praying to God to grant the repose an eternal rest.

The statement read, “In remembrance of our departed king,
Oba Mohood Olalekan Balogun, Alli Okunmade II, may his reign be celebrated for its wisdom, compassion, and dedication to Ibadanland and Oyo state.

“Though he may have left this earthly realm, his legacy shall endure, guiding and inspiring future generations in Ibadan.

“On behalf of people of Ibadan Northeast local government, I sympathise with the immediately family of the late King, people of Alli-wo, Oyo state government, CCII, and most especially sons and daughters of Ibadanland. I want us to
honor late Oba Balogun’s memory with grace and dignity, cherishing the profound impact he made on Ibadanland and Oyo state.

“It is fortunate that our highly educated King went to join his forefathers at an old age after he had achieved his long-awaited dream. Oba Mohood Olalekan Balogun, Alli Okunmade II came, He saw and conquered, and he will continue to be in our hearts. Good night Baba daada.”

Late Oba Balogun spent two years on the throne of his forefathers, having been presented the Staff of Office by the Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, on March 11, 2022.
