The lawmaker representing Ibadan North-East/South-East Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Rep. Abass Adigun Agboworin, has reaffirmed his commitment to serving the people, stating that his foray into politics is not for personal gain but to make positive impact on the lives of his constituents.
The two-term lawmaker, who is also the Chairman, House Committee on Narcotic Drugs, noted that he his passionate about serving the people and determined to always prioritize their needs above personal interests.
He stated this over the weekend in Ibadan, adding that nothing would stop him from continually adding value to the lives of his constituents.
In his words: “I can boldly say it anytime and anywhere that I am into politics to serve the people, but not to be served. I like to see people happy. People you serve must be able to feel your impact as a good representative, and I believe God has been helping me in this area in delivering dividends of democracy to my people.
“So far, we have been been to achieve a lot of things through the grace of God. I have shown dedication to the welfare and development of the people, which I believe is my primary responsibility.
“I got to where I am presently by the grace of God, the mercy of my Principal, Governor Seyi Makinde and the love of my people, who have given me the mandate to serve them and I promised that I would do that wholeheartedly.
“As a result of my commitment to the promises I made, I was given the opportunity to serve my people for another term and this is where I am today.“
Speaking further, the lawmaker noted that, in serving humanity, he has been able to touch on different aspects of governance including education, economic empowerment, infrastructural development, health care and security.
“I can tell you that I have done a lot for my people and won’t stop. Talk of security, we have done something worthwhile.
“On education, we have done something huge and our impact is being felt. At the moment, free tutorial classes are going in the two local government areas that make up my constituency for the SS2 and SS3 students. And this exercise is funded by me. I pay the teachers from my pocket every month. And we will give best performing students scholarship to encourage others to study hard too.
“When you talk of empowerment and wealth creation for my constituents, people know us for that because we do that usually. Last year December, I still empowered over 50 people living with disabilities to wrap up my achievements for the year 2024,” Agboworin stated.
He, however, maintained that in the coming months, he would be launching several initiatives aimed at improving the lives of our people.
He vowed to always continue to make a significant impact on the lives of his constituents, and his commitment to selfless service
“One promise I can make as long as I am still in politics is that, I will continue to ensure that our constituents are carried along in all our decisions and actions. I won’t relent in serving my people.
“I will continue to ensure prompt response to the needs and concerns of our people,” he concluded.
Agboworin has been at the forefront of championing initiatives that promote the well-being and prosperity of his constituents, and his commitment to serving the people has earned him widespread recognition and admiration.
