The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State has accused Governor Ademola Adeleke of dragging the state into a financial mess through alleged debilitating debts and wastefulness.
Addressing a media briefing in Osogbo, on Monday, on what it described as the parlous state of Adeleke’s administration, the opposition party in the state claimed that the current administration has been secretly obtaining loans running into several billions of Naira.
The opposition alleged that the governor was planning to use the loans to finance his 2026 gubernatorial campaign.
Reading the text, APC’s Director of Media and Information, Kola Olabisi, accused the governor of lavishing the state’s scarce resources by “prioritising his comfort and that of other unproductive politicians around him.”
He boasted that the governor would be sacked in 2026.
Reacting, the spokesperson for Governor Adeleke, Olawale Rasheed, dismissed the allegations, saying the secret loan claims were fake news.
He signed the document at the Exco Lounge, Governor’s Office, in the presence of his cabinet members and representatives of the legislative arm.
Recall that the House of Assembly passed the bill after adding N37 billion to the N390 billion proposal presented to the legislature by the governor.
In signing the 2025 budget, entitled the ‘Budget of Growth and Sustainable Development’, Adeleke commended the House and his cabinet members.
He directed the Ministry of Economic Planning, Budget and Development to monitor the implementation process to ensure delivery according to targets and expectations.
The governor assured residents that the budget would be rigorously implemented to meet all expectations.
