The Oyebamiji Support Group, has dared Former Governor Gboyega Oyetola and a Former Osun Central Senator, Ajibola Basiru over the 2026 Governorship Ticket of Osun All Progressives Congress.
The group loyal to former Commissioner of Finance and now Chief Executive Officer of the National Inland Water Authority Alh. Bola Oyebamiji stated categorically that the ticket of the party is supposed to be ceded to a party member from Osun West, if the party is serious about regaining political strength in Osun state.
In a statement by the Group Coordinator, Chief Lanre Adedokun, the group noted that if the party is not willing to consider Osun west, then the party should conduct a primary, adding that they are sure Oyebamiji will come out victorious either former Governor Oyetola or Senator Ajibola Basiru is contesting or not.
The statement reads in part, “We want to put it on record that we agree that Osun West is the ideal place that Osun APC should pick its Governorship candidate for 2026 Governorship Election, this is not only because it’s the demand of the people but also because it is pathway to win the election.
“We are confident of Alh Bola Oyebamiji’s victory if primary is to be conducted even today, regardless of if former Governor Oyetola and Senator Ajibola Basiru are contesting or not.
“What we are saying, no automatic ticket for anybody and at least respect the people of Osun west in line with zoning doctrine in the state.
“Members of the Oyebamiji Support Group are all over the state but on this conversation of 2026 Governorship, we have agreed that Osun West is our best bet if we ever want to defeat Adeleke and for us in the group, we dare to the fact that Alh Bola Oyebamiji stands a better chance to win the election than the duo of Oyetola, Ajibola Basiru or any other aspirant outside of Osun West Senatorial District of the state.
