Jericho Businessmen Club To Hold First Annual Socio-Economic Summit Nov. 24th

The Jericho Businessmen Club (JBC) announced its first Annual Socio-Economic Summit, focusing on the pivotal theme, ‘Agricultural Transformation in Oyo State through Value Chain Integration for Sustainable Development’.

The summit will take place on Friday, November 24th, 2023, at the Ibadan Civic Centre, Agodi, Ibadan by 9am.

According to a statement signed by the chairman, planning committee of the summit, “the summit’s theme underscores the critical role of agriculture not only in ensuring nutrition and food security but also as a cornerstone for industrialization and economic development.


“The summit aims to generate strategies and actionable ideas for driving agricultural transformation through value chain integration, with a view to making Oyo State the leading agro-industrial hub in the nation.”

The Keynote Speakers expected at the summit are Mrs. Yemisi Iranloye – Founder/Managing Director, Psaltry International Limited, Iseyin, Oyo State. Psaltry International Limited is Africa’s first producer of Sorbitol from cassava, Prof. Banji Oyelaran-Oyeyinka – Special Adviser to the President of the African Development Bank (AfDB) on Industrialization and Dr. Debo Akande Executive Adviser to the Governor of Oyo State on Agribusiness, International Cooperation and Development.

The Panellists are Prof. (Mrs.) Subuola Fasoyiro – Professor of Food Technology, IAR & T, Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Mr. Oluwatosin Adewuyi, Executive Director, First Bank of Nigeria Limited, Mrs. Edobong Akpabio, Executive Director, Greenport Nigeria, Dr. Olushola Obikanye, Group Head, Agric Finance and Solid Minerals, Sterling Bank Plc, Ms. Adetola Adenmosun, Leader, IITA Youth Agripreneurs (IYA) and Barr. Tesleem Adewuyi (JBC 131) – Legal Practitioner and Farmer

Also, an exhibition featuring agric and agro-allied enterprises will run concurrently with the summit. This offers a platform for businesses to showcase their products and services. The Oyo State Agricultural Development Agency (OYSADA) will also have a dedicated booth to highlight opportunities in the agricultural value chain in the state and provide information and guidance to would-be investors.

The summit anticipates the presence of key dignitaries, including His Excellency, Engr. Seyi Makinde, The Executive Governor of Oyo State, Senator Abubakar Kyari, CON, Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, Chief Adebayo Adelabu, OFR, Minister of Power, Country Directors of international organizations, Captains of industry and traditional leaders in Ibadan and Oyo State
