BREAKING: 10 Aspirants In Oyo East LG Drop Ambition, Adopts Arowosaye As Consensus Chairmanship Candidate

Arising from an expanded two-day stakeholders meeting in Oyo East local government area, Kosobo, Oyo State, all the ten chairmanship aspirants have stepped down their aspirations to give way for Hon. Prince Arowosaye Saheed Adeyemi to run a second term.

This development, according to the stakeholders, is aimed at ensuring unity and cooperation toward the forthcoming local government election in the State.

As of yesterday (Wednesday), Eight aspirants dropped their ambitions including Hamzat Soliu from Ward 04; Ojewole Kingsley Olusegun from Ward 05; Alaka Yinusa Adeyemi from Ward04; Liasu Akin Alawode from Ward 08; Ayoola Bolaji Luqman from Ward 07; Adeyemi Adeyemo from Ward 07; Adegboyega Taoheed Ayinla from Ward 08; and Rasaq Saheed Kayode from Ward 01. But Hon. Mumini Eburuike requested consultations.

While making the move today, (Thursday13th July 2023), Elder Salawu Bello Olayiwola (a.k.a Baba Ago) who doubles as the chairman of the Elders Council in Oyo East local government, moved a motion to support the party’s decision to produce a popular and strong candidate for the local government poll, which was duly seconded by one of the aspirants, Adebayo Taoheed (a.k.a Adetas)

Speaking on behalf of the aspirants, Hon. Kunle Adejare, who is the current Supervisor for Education and Information, appreciated the stakeholders for their efforts towards making progress in the party, while stressing that it was about time to protect the party’s image against all odds.

While declaring that the decision of the aspirants to step down was unanimously agreed upon to support the candidacy of Hon Arowosaye Saheed Adeyemi, he reaffirmed that the council demands a leadership that is intellectual and rounded to transform the area.

He quipped: “Arowosaye represents the voice of Oyo East. He is a man of peace with a heart of gold, who carries everyone along in his scheme of things and deserves a second term in office.”

In his acceptance speech, Hon. Arowosaye Saheed Adeyemi appreciated the sportsmanship spirit of all the 10 aspirants for adopting his candidacy.

He, however, assured us that he will continue to work towards transforming the council area, and sought their support as well.

He also assured the party faithful that he will not disappoint them while appreciating all the stakeholders, elders in the council, the youth leaders, women leaders, and all ward chairmen.

“These challenges will make me perform better than my first regime. I will follow His Excellency’s sustainable development agenda at the grassroots,” he assured.

Stakeholders in attendance were; Hon. Sakiru Ojo (Party chairman), Chief Luqman Oyebisi Ilaka, Alhaji Ademola Santos (S/West ex-officio), Chief S.A Elegbede JP, Dn. Engr Samuel Oyedokun Elder, (former Vice Chairman), Hon. Waheed Alabi Gbolagade (former Vice Chairman), Baba Salawu Olayiwola Bello (chairman Elders forum), Akinwumi Ejalonibu (Stakeholder), Alhaji Akano-Ija (Leader), Prince Oladokun Mukaila (State Excos), Aderemi Adegoke Muslim(Leader), Mudashir Isiaka O. (Local Youth leader), Comrade Tunde Ogunlana (Party Secretary), Hon. Daudu Owolabi (former party secretary), Mrs. Jimoh Simbiat (Local Women leader), and Engr Chief Dele Adedeji (Leader).

Aspirants in attendance to make the final decisions today were: Amusat Soliu (Ayekooto) from Ward 04, Ojewole Kingsley Olusegun from Ward 05, Hon. Arowosaye Saheed Adeyemi from Ward 03, Liasu Akin Alawode from Ward 08, Alaka Yinusa Adeyemi from Ward04, Adeyemi Adeyemo from Ward 07, Adegboyega Taoheed Ayinla from Ward 08, Adejare Taofeeq from Ward 01, Ayoola Bolaji Luqman from Ward 07 and Rasaq Saheed Kayode from Ward 01.

Kehinde Ogundare Ward 10.

•Hon. Sola Oluokun Peter and Hon. Hammed Monjeed denied the party invitations.

The party chairman, Hon. Sakiru Ojo appreciated all stakeholders and all aspirants for honoring the invitation and for taking a good step for the progress of the party in the local government.
