Ekiti Grassroots Movement has condemned former governor Ayodele Fayose for what it described as a deliberate attempt to sabotage all efforts put together by leaders of the party to restructure it after the loss of the party in the last governorship election.
The group added that People’s Democratic Party (PDP) was in existence before Fayose came into politics in 2002.
Fayose had bragged that he would “sink” PDP if the leadership of the party at the national fails to reckon with him, while also attacking Senator Olujimi and Professor Eleka for providing leadership and empowering his former allies.
The former Director of Media and Publicity to the group, Adebisi Adeola, said Fayose should stop acting like a pawn on the chessboard and allow relative peace, which members of the party have enjoyed in recent time, continues.
“Nobody is struggling leadership with Fayose. It is evident that PDP members need leaders who are manageable and proactive to their demands. We need to start doing things differently to get a different result,” Adeola stated.
Reacting to the concocted meeting of some candidates who are loyal to Fayose to allegedly withdraw from Atiku Campaign Council, Adeola said what was important at this crucial time is unity of purpose and grassroots mobilization for the party, and not unnecessary bickering on Atiku campaign council that has taken up with brilliant submissions and drive to deliver significantly for all PDP candidates in the coming election.
“We need to be wary of some candidates who have done little or no awareness in their constituencies. Some of them find solace in holding sway to the ticket, not to win election but to cause confusion and red-herring,” Adeola added.
Speaking further, He noted that Ekiti State PDP cannot take the back seat in the comity of states when dividends of efforts are being rewarded after the emergence of Alhaji Atiku Abubakar as president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria in the next general election come February 25th, 2023.
“All hands must be on deck, to salvage the country from her dwindling state to a recovering country we can be proud of.
“Any attempt to bring set back to the party will be resisted, not only by PDP members, but the impoverished masses who cannot wait to cast their votes for Atiku.
“Atiku has instituted his campaign structure across the country. All PDP candidates in Ekiti are also enjoined to set up their campaign team to ensure all round victory, not fixating on the composition of Atiku Campaign Council as a façade to sabotage PDP in the state.
“Nothing will change the date for PDP presidential rally in Ekiti,” He concluded.
