The River State Governor, Nyesome Wike and  former Governor of Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose have insisted that Seyi Makinde of Oyo State will not lose his reelection in the forthcoming 2023 general elections.

The duo stated this on Saturday in Portharcourt at the campaign flag-off of Peoples Democratic Party PDP in Rivers State.

Recall that some party chieftains in Oyo State have threatened to work against the governor’s second term ambition if he fails to declare support for the party’s presidential candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar.

The event had in attendance some members of the National Working Committee of the party among others.

This online news platform quoted Wike as declaring that none of the governors in the G5 Integrity Group will lose election in their different states.

He said: “I will not support anybody who says anyone from another ethnic group will not become the president. I want to assure you today that Governor Makinde and other governors who belong to this group will not lose election in their different states.

“They are saying don’t vote for Igbos, don’t vote for yorubas and they did not even mention where I came from. This means I did not come from anywhere. It means I am not existing but I must tell them I come from somewhere. I will tell them I exist.

“Let me warn you National Assembly  candidates, if your leg is here and there, we too we put our legs here and there. No be only you sabi play wayo. So, don’t go to Abuja and think you can deceive us.”

On Fayose’s part, he noted that they have agreed that Atiku is their presidential candidate and harped on reconciliation.

He added that Governor Seyi Makinde, being the only candidate among the G5 seeking second term ambition, will not lose his re-election.
